Calathea medallion or calathea veitchiana is a striking plant with large oval leaves, the upper surface has a unique medal-like pattern, consisting of a dark green border and light green stripes radiating from the center. The underside of the leaves is a brilliant purple, creating a harmonious and impressive contrast. The leaves are thick and glossy, with soft veins, adding to the natural beauty of the plant.

Calathea prefers loam or loam, a medium rich in organic matter but still well drained. Most potting mixes made from coconut coir, rice husks or peat are suitable but make sure they do not retain water.

Calathea likes water but does not like to be waterlogged. Water moderately, cacti are drought tolerant plants, do not require too much water. You should mist when the potting medium is still moist and water when the medium is just dry.

Humidity

The best humidity for the plant is above 50%. Humidity lower than this will cause their foliage to curl and turn brown.

pH

The ideal pH range is 6.0 - 7.0 pH. A slightly acidic or neutral soil pH is ideal.
