Dragon scale cactus is a common name for several species of cacti that have in common the trunk covered with triangular scales, stacked on top of each other like the scales of a dragon. This is one of the cacti species with a unique shape and attracts the attention of many bonsai lovers.

The stem is usually spherical or cylindrical, covered with triangular scales. These scales can be green, blue-gray, or brown, depending on the species.
