      Strelitziaceae (Bird of Paradise)

Strelitziaceae (Bird of Paradise family or Fan Palm) is a family of monocotyledonous plants, known for its tropical ornamental plants with flowers shaped like flying birds (such as Strelitzia reginae – Bird of Paradise flower) or fan-shaped leaves (such as Ravenala madagascariensis – Fan Palm).

With their broad leaves, upright stems, and distinct architectural form, species in the Strelitziaceae family are often chosen as ornamental plants for gardens, resorts, or large lobby spaces to create a luxurious tropical focal point.

These plants prefer sun and are drought-tolerant once mature, but require regular watering during their growth phase. The soil should be loose, nutrient-rich, and well-draining. Some species, such as the Bird of Paradise, may take several years to flower, but they have a very long lifespan and can be grown outdoors for a long time.
