Cannaceae (Ginger)
Cannaceae (also known as ginger family or banana family) is a family of monocotyledonous plants belonging to the ginger order, comprising only a single genus, Canna.
Canna is distinguished by its large, colorful leaves (green, purple, yellow stripes) and vibrant clusters of red, orange, yellow, or pink flowers, blooming almost year-round in tropical climates. Besides its ornamental value, some Canna species are cultivated for their tubers, which are processed into starch, or used in landscaping to prevent flooding due to their good tolerance to waterlogging.
This plant is easy to grow, prefers full sun, moist, nutrient-rich soil, and is not picky about care conditions, making it suitable for planting along walkways, lakeshores, or in large clumps in gardens and parks.
