      Home Indoor Plants Tillandsia

      Tillandsia

Tillandsia (also known as air plant) is a genus of plants in the Bromeliaceae family, famous for its ability to live without soil. They originate from tropical America, absorbing water and nutrients primarily through their leaves via special hair-like structures, often attaching themselves to other plants or rocks.

Because it doesn't need to be planted in soil, Tillandsia is very versatile for decoration: it can be attached to driftwood, seashells, hung suspended, or placed in a terrarium, making it suitable for small spaces such as desks, bookshelves, or cafes.

Caring for Tillandsia is quite simple: mist or soak the plant 2–3 times a week, keep it in a well-ventilated area, and avoid waterlogging the base of the leaves which can cause rot. The plant needs indirect light and moderate humidity to thrive and produce vibrant flowers before producing new shoots.
